Our trek route will lead you to the top of the M’goun, Morocco’s 3rd highest summit. During an amazing trek in the heart of the Central High Atlas Mountains, you will discover the famous Bouguemez Valley ( Happy Valley) and a less visited trekking area!
The M’Goun summit is a popular destination for hikers and trekkers who would like to test their skills before tackling bigger adventures.

For Trekking Atlas Mountains you need to prepare as you would for walking in any mountain region; it can be warm and sunny during the day but the weather in the mountains can quickly change from sunshine to snow and cold winds (autumn through late spring). Please do not leave any rubbish behind you; carry out what you carry in.
Atlas Treks are tailored to match the season and your level of fitness. You have the choice of basing yourself in Berber Guesthouses, from where you can take daily walks, or you can Atlas Mule Trek for 2+ days. On mule treks you usually have the choice of staying in Berber Guesthouse/with families or wild camping in 2-person tents. In addition to regular packing, here is a Check List for Atlas Trekking:
We will pick you up from Marrakech and drive you to Agouti by minibus in the morning, we will arrive in the late afternoon, so you will have some time to relax, take in your surroundings and orient yourself.

After breakfast we will begin our trek by hiking for 4 hours or so to Arouss, Along the way we’ll pass through some great countryside and quite a few traditional Berber villages, In the evening, we will make camp and you’ll sleep in Arouss for the night.
When you awake, we will begin our trek to the foot of M’Goun. It will be quite a long day (perhaps 7 or 8 hours of walking) but the journey itself will make it worthwhile!
We’ll take you through some wild Moroccan landscape to the Aghouri pass at 3450m before descending to the wind-eroded and snow-covered high plateau of Tarkedit at 2900m where we will have our lunch.
After our food, we will establish a camp at 3400m directly below M’goun West, ready for our attempt on the summit.
Today we make our ascent to the summit of Jebel M’Goun, the trek follows a long ridge, all at or above 4,000m, which typically takes between 4 and 5 hours to the summit, depending on snow conditions. From the top, there are impressive views across the Draa valley and towards the Sahara Desert to the south.
When we descend, we’ll head to our camp at Azib Izabine and take some time for a rest!
In the morning, we will take you down the valley into A Falafel and to Tighermet n Ait Ahmed where will finish for the day and make our camp for the night.
On our final day of the trek, we will climb Tizi n’Ait Imi to 2960m and then enjoy a long descent to the Ait Bougmez valley.
Finally, we will take you back to your hotel/Riad in Marrakech
